Avocado prices have increased incredibly over these past few weeks due to staggeringly low availability. The California crops have finished earlier than expected. The heatwave in California back in July damaged budding fruit on the trees, lessening the harvest substantially. This low supply leaves us in a gap in the market, as the Mexican crops are not yet up to market demands. Peru is bringing in fruit for those markets with interest, driving up the prices considerably. Suppliers forecast prices wont normalize until about late September. In the meantime, we will continue to search for a decent quality avocado fruit among what is available.
