The warmer weather and bright sunny days have been excellent for our California crops. With temperatures cooling down a bit, we’re excited to see the second half of summer harvest items rolling in, like melons and peppers, along with many other phenomenal items. Here’s what’s available…
Heirloom tomatoes are officially in full swing. Almost all varieties are now fruiting, contributing to our beautiful mixed variety boxes. We also offer single varieties to meet your specific flavor and color needs, including Amana Orange, Berkeley Pink Tie Dye, Lemon Boy, and Brandywine. Early Girl tomatoes are also available, known for their unmatched flavor and perfect for slicing. For small-sized tomato needs, we have Baby Mixed Medley, Sweet 100, and Sun Gold. All of these tomatoes are organically grown and locally sourced.
Summer soft squash is abundant. Our zucchini (medium and fancy sizes), yellow squash, and summer squash varieties are all California-grown. Our local growers also harvest summer squash blossoms, available by a 2-day pre-order as they are cut to order. We can accommodate standing weekly or daily orders for the blossoms.
Watsonville strawberries are definitely a highlight for this week. The Watsonville area has been producing terrific strawberries this season. Blackberries and raspberries are also proving fantastic flavor.
Meyer lemons are still available from Coke Farms. We will have a good supply for the next few weeks, offering a sweeter flavor profile that vibes perfectly with the sunny weather.
Local melons are in, with strong cantaloupe and honeydew varieties. Other available varieties include Crenshaw, Canary, Galia, and Orange Flesh Honeydew. Watermelons, especially the Midnight Black variety, are particularly flavorful and will be available for a few more weeks. This variety is one of our favorite summer melon options, don’t miss it!
Local sweet frying peppers are back people!! We are seeing the first of the locally grown crops including Padrone, Jimmy Nardello, and Gypsy peppers. Surely a fan favorite for a reason!
